That's the million dollar question! It's my belief, based on nothing anyone should trust, that it is because the virus mutates from a failed attempt at treatment. Now, that being said, I don't really believe that the few percentage points in difference between the two pegylated products is significant. You are waiting anyway so my suggestion would be when it gets close to the time you are going to try treatment, that you ask your doc what he/she has heard. And who knows, Pegasys might be approved by fall.

Hi Susie,

I tend to aggree on the difference on the few % points. However, I wonder about the side effects. I was under the impression (I thought, but may be wrong) that the sides were less on PEGASYS than PEG-INTRON. Anyone got any information on this or is it a grey area which is extremely personalized ?

I'm just reporting what we were told. The dropout rate due to sides and serious adverse events was 14% on the 48 wk arms and that is approximately the same as the PegIntron studies show. I don't know anyone who has done both Pegs so i have no idea.

It's my mistake. I answered your post and used your name. I do that sometimes. Sheesh.
