Changing out the engine in this car is a very brave thing for you to do. The differences between the systems for the 2.0 and the 3.0 seem to be considerable. Have you tried to uprate the 2.0 engine and if so what increase in power output did you get that did not satisfy you.

I have to admit that I have a 3.0 V6 but I have upgraded the power on that and you could do the same things to your 2.0.

I had the ECM re-chipped. Put in a K&J free flow airfilter element. I also put in a Broquet fuel catalyst in the fuel tank which may sound irrelevant but produced great increase in power output. I have not measured any of these but I believe that the chip gave me 12 bhp and Superchip say that you could get 10 bhp for the 2.0. The air filter gives about 2 bhp, more if compared with a dirty paper element. The 2.0 can take a full performance induction kit from K&J as the engine is common to several Peugeot models but there isn't one available for the 3.0. I'm told that induction improvements tend to give the biggest power gains of all as manufacturers tend to strangle their engines for air to reduce noise. That was true of a Honda Prelude and might well relate to the 2.0. I don't know what the Broquet gave me but the performance increase still is bringing a smile to my face a month after fitting it so it must be in excess of 5 bhp! Broquet say it gives about 2% increase in performance. Then you could still put a free flow exhaust for 5 - 8 bhp. A set of Magnacor ignition leads might preserve the power gains as ordinary leads can loose some power. After that you are running out of things to uprate, although I was quoted £2500 for a supercharger but I don't think a front wheeel drive car could handle much more power without traction control.

The cost of these mods, not including labour which you could do yourself, is £500 and an exhaust would cost another £250. That lot would give you an extra 25 bhp. Peugeot have turbo chargers for some of their 2.0 engines so you could probably bolt on one of those if you're brave enough. Or if you're wealthy enough you could look at the supercharger mod. The 2.0 weighs less than the 3.0 so some of the extra power in the 3.0 is used to lug itself around. The 3.0 is a very tight fit so other makes of engine might not easily fit under the hood. I don't know if any of this is helpful. I really love my Coupe and can appreciate why you want to keep yours but get a bit of extra grunt.
