| Nodding in assent, he firmly takes the stallion's reigns, leading the black to his horseshoe anvil. After cross-tieing the horse, as to ensure the stallion's good behavior, he begins on the back left hoof. Producing a metal file from his leather apron, sure strokes begin to smooth the hoof, filing away the rough edges, and shaping it to where the bone would land level on the ground. With the hoof resting on his knee, he trades the file for a small pick, to pick out the dirt from around the frog. Gentle hands set the hoof down, and continue with the proceedure for the next three hooves. Finally done, he glances at Callifae and nods in satisfaction. "If you will leave him here for a day or two, I will make the horseshoes. I do not wish to detain you, and I have other customers to attend to." He points with his chin to the lady resting on the lawn. "I will nail them on when you come back, so you can calm him." |
