 Oh *sigh*....my answer to the AS3 ending was that spending time down there was good for him. Let him brood over all that had happened and get over this Codry crap out of his system and remeber after several months of brooding that Buffy is his girl. Always. And. Forever.

But I think your way worked so much better. Now if you would just fix Tara's death and work in a happy ending for her and Will...... ;)
