Subject: Rest of the Year Schedule

Men of the 9th Texas Infantry

Excellent job at Chickamauga. We few, seven to ten guns at any one time, had a blast. Excellent grounds, long miserable walks to cars, excellent sutlers, long miserable walks to sutlers, beautiful scenery (big chicks with back tats), wonderful daily temperatures, pouring rain, cold nights, no toilet paper, and lots of opportunities to burn powder. For a 150th, I thought it was a very good one. Oh, no reported ticks, some poisonous spiders, but no ticks.

This schedule will carry us to December. Quick summary; there is one drill on October 12 in Farmers Branch. There are four events in November, yes that�s every weekend you have the opportunity to reenact. Of these November events, the 9th Texas really needs you to be at two of them, Dallas Heritage Village and Liendo. So here we go.

OCTOBER

DRILL

October 12, at Farmers Branch Historical Village in Farmers Branch, Texas.
Uniform is CS or US to get ready for America Goes to War and Liendo.
Time is from 9 till Noon.

NOVEMBER

Optional/Recruiting/Living History/Skirmish

Fort Richardson will hold its� Annual Civil War Weekend, �The Battle for Fort Richardson� November 2 and 3

If you are the ultimate reenactor, meaning you have free time and unlimited kitchen passes, then please try and assist at this event. If you do not, then we need you to come to Dallas Heritage Village (see below), but back to Fort Richardson. There is a battle at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, so you have two times to be there. They will need US and CS. Mike Corso (mike.corso@charter.net) is running this event. Usually free food because fires are not allowed.

2013 Honey Springs Battle Reenactment - November 8-10, 2013

If you are the penultimate reenactor, meaning you have ultimate free time and super unlimited kitchen passes, then contact Micah Jones (micah@micahjones.com) for this event. If you do not, then we need you to come to Dallas Heritage Village (see below), but back to Honey Springs. The Honey Springs Battlefield Historic Site will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Honey Springs. The battle, fought July 17, 1863, was the most important engagement of the Civil War in Indian Territory.

Civil War on the Homefront - Cub Scout and Boy Scout Day

Saturday, November 16, 2013
Event Hours: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m

Muster your Troops for a Cub and Boy Scout tradition at Dallas Heritage Village. Members of local re-enactment groups, primarily the 9th Texas Infantry and the 1st U. S. Infantry, will set up camp and skirmish at 2 p.m. Being a soldier isn't just about fighting. How did Civil War soldiers fill the hours between battles? Explore camp life during the Civil War, participate in a drill with the soldiers, learn about a new sport the men are calling baseball, and pitch some horseshoes at Millermore. Join in a game of dominoes or round of cards to help take your mind off the battle ahead. Sit around the campfire for some tall tales and music. Soldiers couldn't carry a fiddle into battle but there was always space in a pocket for a mouth organ. Join us for Civil War on the Home Front as we prepare for battle at the village and learn more about the life of a soldier.

You may wear any CS Texas uniform and kit; bring your pistols and powder. Bring appropriate bowie knives in appropriate sheaths. Bring light marching order and campaign gear to set up displays. The theme is surveying, so we will ad lib a group of soldiers surveying. Also bring a western federal, just in case. Civilian men, women, and children are highly encouraged to attend.

MAX EFFORT EVENT

Liendo Plantation � Saturday November 23 and Sunday November 24
Liendo Plantation, Hempstead, Texas
Uniform is 165th New York Zouaves or Western Federal

A frames and beer cooler are a must; period correct camp chairs and cots. Stories and maybe reenacting the Bill Pecena saves his men from the fire scene. Always a fun event with a high turn-out. Will also be battalion meeting for officers and NCOs.
