He didn't really know why he turned around. After all, what was playing out on the screen after he gave his orders. was tense enough that it would require ones full attention.

But he looked over his shoulder anyway and that slight action alone probably saved him.

The uniform approaching him belonged to security personnel. The size was obviously human and he wouldn’t have thought anything of it if he were a civilian. But he was a seasoned soldier with years of experience underneath him and that bespoke of him looking at more than what his first glance told him. He had learned over the years to listen to his instincts and to always, always, look at as much information before making a decision. Only in wartimes during a crisis would a snap decision be necessary. This could have been one of those times, but the uniform was still a few feet back.

He noticed at once the red-collared uniform...not a new design format. It was trying to be concealed by the collar being rolled inwards but there was still enough of a reddish-brown brim that an observant individual could make the call that it was we blood.

Secondly was the quiet. Any brig personnel would have made their presence known to Op-Chief before walking up to him. He couldn’t quite see the individuals face because it was covered by the brim of the hat, but after his other observations, he didn’t need to see a face to know that this spelled trouble

This was obviously a tight spot to be in. The court room doors were shut, a trial in-session. The hallway was empty and his back was to a computer. He drew his side-arm and made sure the individual heard his barking cough.

Something inside him told him to shoot now, ask questions later. A remnant from his field days...but this was no time to get the jitters.

The individual looked at him and pulled off it’s hat to reveal a semi-human face and a face grotesquely distorted by too many teeth. The grim reaper smile as it was known when this individual was on a killing spree. He knew who it was before him and if he wasn’t a professional his hand would have shook.

Joskur the Dirge...

”Hold it right there you sick bastard!”

Silence. A quiet hallway. Breathing from the insane escapee. Sound proof walls and doors on the court room. No one would even hear all this from inside!

”The question isn’t how did you get out...but how many holes in your head is it going to take for you to understand that I mean business?”

Dammit! Not even a comlink to call for help! Just drop to the floor, psycho. Rust it all! Drop to the floor....
