When you read about two worlds colliding there seems to be something that's typical among them: humans being clueless, and non-humans laughing at the clueless humans in one way or another. These two are no different, except that Ategro is separated from Reef by a mere stretch of sand as the beach flows underwater... Scratch that. There is no separation, for the humans swim and ride among the coral reef far out from shore just as the homonids sun on the beaches and -- sometimes -- walk among the city seeming as humans. It's a harmony that comes from ignorance. Some humans know of their ethereal neighbors, and some water creatures trust the humans with that knowledge, but for the most part the humans are unaware of the homonids inhabiting "their" reefs. And, indeed, their schools and work. For who says a water bound creature is actually thus?
