Subject: Burning Desires

"This is Manar.

This is not Manar.

I burn. I stand on unforgiving stone, miles across a great desert. I crossed that desert.

I never crossed that desert.

I've never been to the desert.

Manar is a mystery. It was to the forest I was first drawn and though the arrival of William and Patrick showed me that, cursed blade or no, my destiny could lie down another path, Idola would steer me back. Why?

Why?

These flames do not burn naturally. They consume my armor. The consume my flesh. I feel pain. I feel whole. This is a world of great magic, of generations of magic. The Fairy Queen is wise to contain her world so, to limit magick to the fæ. The humans whose descendants now toil in the fields for an orbitting place of science they will never see....they abused their power. I feel that. I know that. I should not know that.

I burn with knowledge, with awareness, and with guilt. I have done horrible things. I will do so again. Does guilt erase ill deeds? Am I any better than the Manches? Or the WR@ whose shadow still permeates this land, whose potential to live again lies in every repressed black thought of every man, woman and child?

Enough burning. 'Tis more than I can bear or comprehend, more than I am meant to know. I would have these flames of knowledge be quashed."
