  Baring the fact that seeing your forum brings back the memories of my living in the South Central Los Angeles many years ago, I am reminded of proselytizing for the Christian God to many Black women. Many of your brethren, that I have encountered during that missionary work were cultural Christians, who never read the Holy Bible (KJV 1611), but thought they were Christians none the less because their pastor spoon-fed them some verses every other Sunday morning. But I have taught them better, and together with my associate, Reverend Matthew converted many to True Christianity, as usually happens when D-man puts his Jesus-given talents to work!
  
  Here is a testament to the esteemed Reverend Matthew's and mine work from a certain Talullah Washington:
  
  Reverend Matthew, I can't thank you enough for explaining how much Jesus loves me! My life was unbearable before we met on that wet and windy evening, but now I've turned my back on the prostitution and crack smoking and have submitted myself totally to Jesus and His cause! Bless you Reverend, your reward will come in Heaven!

  for so long i too settled for less. and actually, i still do. writing this is sort of a therapy for me. i am 24, weigh 255 pounds and am 5'2. i dont get a lot of offers for dates. and when i do, of course they only want to use me. and (as i write this with tears rolling down) i usually let them. and maybe some of you know the routine- they only call just to have their way with me. and i let them. its the only way i get attention. and usually i feel so low and so dirty afterwards. but it seems to be a repeated cycle. how does one get to the point that everyone spoke about? of feeling love for me?

  Hi, I'm charly I was married for 21 years and I have been divorced for less than a year. I am not bitter but I'm angry at myself for still loving my husband. I wish sometimes that I could get mad enough for this not to hurt but I have not reached that point yet. I am a plus sized black woman looking for someone who can identify with my plight.   I would like to thank everyone that has given me encouragement through one of my lowest points in my life. Things are getting a bit better. I will be graduating from nursing school (LPN) on Aug. 15,'02 and I am very excited. I have lost 27 pounds and that hasn't changed me one bit. I am still Lori no matter what. I am learning to love every part of me, slowly but surely. I am learning to smile more often now. Sometimes it is hard. I have gave up on seeking my soul mate. I am just waiting for him to find me. I don't have to settle for anything because I am so much worthy than that. I know that one day my turn will come when God sends the right man. Until then, I am trying to stay focused (especially on these state boards). I am reading my bible more often, watching christian television shows, and attending church more often. It is a comfort to know that God is near when no one else can be. I feel safety and strength. Sometimes I pray until I fall asleep. I talk to him all the time. It is a building process. I still make my mistakes, but who doesn't?
  God has a purpose for me and I have to be patient (although that can be tiresome at times) for what it is he wants me to do.
  For other FF women, keep on going. I know what is like to cry and question God, and make my body vunerable to a man for a moment, but God loves you and cares for you and He will send the love of your life, just wait and don't force things to happen.
  He will send that man who will love you regardless. God see us on the inner, unlike man they see us on the outter. That is the difference between man and God. He can see what man can't see. God can see the good in you.
  Don't let yourself go, glorify your own world and it will show up on the outside. This is the key to drawing the curious to you and make them wonder why you just won't settle for less.

  Hi,
  Where is God? I am feeling that He cannot hear me. I am so sad right now. Like many other full figured sisters out there, I want to be loved. Yes, I know that God loves me, but a lot of the times I want someone in the physical form who will love me for me whether I am big or small. I cry sometimes because I feel fustrated as to why almost all of my life that I have been obese and that life has been so hard for me. I have had men to treat me like the crap. I know that I am beautiful in my own way. I have a pretty face and importantly a pretty heart.I realize that I am not going to be a size 6, but trying to lose weight to be more healthier is a problem. I pray and pray, but it seems that God won't hear my prayer. Sometimes, I think God is punishing me. For what though? I contemplate as to what I did so wrong that God wont answer my prayer for being a bit smaller and sending me my soul mate.
  I am tired of going through man after man and then feeling empty. I have feelings too and why should I have to open my legs for such? Sometimes I ask God why does the slimmer sisters, especially the ones who strip have the perfect bodies and can have any man she wants and a good girl like myself have to settle for less? I have realized that sometime ago that sex is not the answer. I got tired of feeling empty afterwards. I rather lay with someone who loves me, has a ring on my finger and will not leave me in the morning.
  
  So now I just wait and wait wondering when I will have that man in my life. What more does God wants me to do in order to be loved like I know I deserved to be loved.
  
  I really like this site and it has given me a chance to vent and cry as to what ever is on my mind. I am grateful for this site and to know that I am not the only one going through this.

  Media is injecting the stereotypes of black women in people’s heads and this is affecting real black women in their personal life, in their careers and most importantly their self-perception which governs all the areas mentioned. This issue is extremely serious and it needs further attention, women on the whole should not feel they are less than others just because they are different and as a woman, one day I hope this should be proven to all those who are ignorant.
