It was unmistakable. By light of the moon, the others could see it imediately. She was part dog.
The puppy (who was about a year and a half old) had a bright sugary brown, red-tinted coat that was unusual for wolves. There was no other colouration except on the spot between her eyes, a small white patch that looked a little bit like a lop-sided lilly.
Her eyes were still wolfish, and it was quite obvious that she was mostly wolf, but there were the few characteristics that marked her dogishness. Her tail was different, and she looked thinner and lighter than most wolf cubs should look. Her face looked a bit more pointed than regular wolf cubs did.
Nervously, she padded up to the wolves, keeping her head low and whimpering softly.
