Subject: Welker Team

We all know that it is easy to criticize the Welker Team in an anonomous forum like this one. Seems counter productive to me though as this site is about Verizon and lies. But Tony C is entitled to his opinion.
But he does raise some concerns we shoul all examine.

Seems it is widely believed that after ten years in office, they have abandoned their responsibility of addressing the everyday concerns of the membership. Please remember though, that in the last election, less than half of the membership voted correctly, or even voted at all.
As I see it, it is our responsibility as the membership, to get involved in OUR union. That means doing a good quality job each day. Do only our own job each day. And most importantly, remember that management does many things deliberately designed to pit one craft against another. Try to remember that.

But if you have had enough of the Welker Team, then open your eyes and ears and pay attention for the next several months as the election approaches. Now more than ever before, your participation and interest is needed. And if other members run for office, listen to what they have to say.
A strong union is a combination of an involved membership AND an executive board working to facilitate the wishes of the members, not fighting against them.

Bill W
P.S. Suprising that after instituting and fighting to maintain an "at large" group of business agents in Local 1108, George endorsed (in a mailing to the membership paid for with your dues) the recent referendum changing the Brookhaven Town Council to a district system. Hmmmmmmm.
