Subject: Record Company Support

Just been having a hot debate over the failure of RCA to support 5* at the time of Rock The World - which led to there "untimely" demise.
It was pointed out that Brand New World was the 1st of their records to not be welcomed by the record buying public. And who is to blame? (and no dont blame the costumes!!)
This period saw the demise of support from "Smash Hits"(who'd found solice with Bros and Brother Beyond lol) though "Number 1" were still pluggin away with the flexi disc - makin of the video - that no one ever saw.
The problem seemed to rectified for "Let Me Be Yours" but where was the video on the Chart Show?? They were everywhere for that song - "live" - but where was the video, the most important medium?
when they left RcA - we were left thinkin great, now they can move on. Treat Me Like A lAdy blew me away - but hardly any1 else. Oh they managed to get an advert in Smash Hits for that and a mention by Philip Schofied, oh and The video on the chart show - but no live aperances. Wogan could have helped, but we had to wait for the vastly underpromoted Hot Love - what week was that released - nobody new - was it June July August - terrible promtion on Epics behalf. The companies are at fault for not doing enough.
If Treat Me Like A Lady had been released at the beginning of 1990 - then would have returned them to the Top 40 i believe - as it was their finest hour.and left a very disappointed 14 year old disheartened and was introduced with a bump to the fickle world of pop.
