Subject: Johnny Reed

If anyone out there has any information whatsoever concerning the late Johnny Reed, I would greatly appreciate it if you could send it my way. John Reed was the football coach at Canton McKinley for only 3 years during the late 1930's. In those three years, he lost only 3 games...all to Paul Brown. Before and after he was the coach at Canton McKinley, he was the coach of the Scott High Purple Raiders' football and basketball teams. My father was on the 1943 WPIAL championship basketball team under the guidance of coach Reed. Scott High was part of the merger in 1981 that now makes up the Woodland Hills School District. Anyway, coach Reed is being inducted into the Pennsylvania football hall of fame at the end of July. My father is looking for anything and everything to include pictures, newspaper articles, etc. to take with him to include on a banner that will be posted at the entrance to coach Reed's induction. Any information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. I kindly thank you all in advance.

Sincerely,

Nick Downing
