The end of an era

It pains me to see that Canton McKinley head basketball coach Dave Hoover has retired after 11 successful years as head basketball coach of Canton McKinley.

Being an avid supporter of his success, he was not only a coach and a teacher but also a role model and father figure to a person like me.

To read that he retired really tears me up. He was the only person who was there for me during my good times and bad. To be a locker room reporter for him as a sophomore was the greatest thing that happened to me since the nine years I got to know Hoover.

Thanks for the successful 11 years Coach Hoover. He will always be #1 in my heart.
