.name. Divar (dee-var)

.age. 17

.gender. male

.candidate.

.appearance.

Divar is slightly on the shorter side of six feet, nearly there at five foot eleven inches but never gaining the last inch as years pass him by. Naturally tanned skin compliments his dark, dark brown hair and dark eyes. His hair is cropped quite short, buzzed on the sides and longer on the top, spiked up cleanly, looking very close to black unless you get nose to nose with him. Then it's brown. His cheekbones are relatively high, but not thin so as to look feminine, his eyebrows arch slightly upwards, giving him the expression of someone constantly interested in something. His chin is less defined but none the less dominant and slightly squared out as opposed to pointed or cleft. His eyes are framed by short lashes, their hue a striking deep brown, the color of a pool of choclate, should anyone ever be rich enough to fill a pool with chocolate. Moving along, his shoulders are football player broad, as he is built much like one, broad in the shoulders with a relatively slim waist and muscular legs. His arms are very well defined from years of playing games, labor and all around activity, with wide hands and not so long fingers, but they aren't short and stubby either. Well defined...well, pretty much everything really. Divare tends to wear loose fitting-and by that I mean in the legs not the waist-pants, usually lighter khaki brown colors. When he wears shoes they're always sandals: a sole lashed to his feet with leather or fabric strips, crisscrossing his feet up to slightly above his ankle. Think Greek style. His favorite shirt is navy blue and sleeveless, though sometimes he will wear other such dark colors. Divar has numerous scars from numerous aspects of life. A slight crescent shape on his back just under his left shoulderblade shows from back in his more arrogant days; he had irritated a runner, and then tried to turn and run when it reared, bring one front hoof down just shy of his spine. The right hoof connected lower, a more distinct hoof shaped scar shows just above his waistline. Scars crisscross his right knuckles, a ldelicate pattern of fine, time worn scars-he had tried to punch through a wood wall and succeeded, breaking two fingers in the process. And the final scar locates itself in a spiraling down pattern around Divar's left calf: a threadburn from back when he was a child. It is significantly faded, but still visible beneath the tan skin. Lastly, Divar has pierced his ear. (no, it doesn't mean anything!) Thinking it would be cool, he had fashioned a simple steel hopp, found a needle of his mother's, and did so. Interestingly enough (after some bleeding and scolding, among other things) he was allowed to keep the small ring...but it isn't in his ear. With the help of his father he recrafted the metal into a simple finger band, on his right middle finger. A simple reminder: don't inflict pain upon yourself. Plenty of other people will do that for you.

.personality.

Multi faceted. He is very warm and very loving, very carefree and completely independent of anyone else. Divare likes to get his work done efficiently and effectively, and use the rest of his time to play or wreak havoc however he sees fit. He follows his own morals, sets his own standards and listens to no one until they earn his respect, which takes quite a bit of time for most people. While open and friendly, he is not quick to trust people, another things they must earn over time. Divar's weakness is that he can be very stubborn, sometimes with a short temper and a big peeve for laziness. He loves any type of challenge, and once something is put in front of him he does not rest until he has completed his goal. A driven person, hardworking, intelligent and diligent, Divar has a very wild streak in him; he is a daredevil, and does not like it when people say he will not be able to do something. That only makes him want to do it more. When put to good use, this streak is effective: he can be assertive, can lead very easily, and is very hardworking. Put to ill use, and he will be an absolute troublemaker.

.skills.

Divar is relatively handy in metalworking, can train a runner with considerable ease, and is very adept at swimming and sailing. He sings, and though he is untrained he can find pitch decently enough. Never let him cook. Ever. He knows enough of healing to take care of himself if and when he gets injured.

.history. ((this is going to be pretty brief))

Divar was born in a small Hold that centered mostly around livestock, runners and metalworking. His father delved mainly in training runners, but was also quite skilled in metalworking, putting out small trinkets and things at gatherings, mainly for women. That and fishing hooks. Divar's father was a quiet man, preferring actions to words. He provided a few choice phrases when it was needed, but mostly raised his children with a steady hand and good actions that hopefully would lead his children to do great things. Divar's mother fussed often, helping with crops and harvesting when needed, weaving, and sewing for most of the more important people of the Hold. She fussed because she cared, and Divar often fussed back, but never being mean about it. Divare also had one older sister, gone and married with children before his tenth Turn. He did not know her well, only knowing her name was Kivalti, her husband was a craftsman and she had two little bratty boys. Or at least that's what Divar's mother always said. Didn't really matter to Divar. He was happy running around outside with the boys, causing trouble and irritaing the adults until they were sent home and punished. And then they would do it again they next day. And the next. But before that, Divar had already been introduced to dragons and dragonriders, having gotten caught during Threadfall with one of the other boys at the age of seven. They ran and dodged until they were winded, lost among tall rows of crops that were slowly being eaten away by thread and flame. Divar's companion was caught and died slowly, falling behind the panicked youth and lost in the field until nearly nightfall. Divar luckily had managed to break free from the endless fields, and unfortunately as soon as he did he was hit. The Thread curled up his calf and he shrieked; it was loud enough for a few chance helpers on foot to hear and respond, and luckily he was spared.

Flash forward to thirteen years old, when Divar punched his hand through the wall, as yet another one of his best friends died during Threadfall, out watching the dragonriders from a good distance away. Clearly not far enough. These instances slowly began to steer Divar towards becoming a dragonrider, and he increasingly thought upon wanting to make a difference, on stopping the death that came with Threadfall.

Flash forward again to four years later, with Divar always looking for a scout, a dragonrider, any way to get to a Weyr. And finally not too long ago he did and poof he's here.
