Name: Kylin of Ista

Gender and Age: Male, 17

Appearance: Short for his age, he has the lean muscle of a runner or swimmer, and appears thin when fully clothed. Although his parents are both tall, he despairs of matching even his mother's height of 5'9". His heart-shaped face is framed by close-cropped curls of a mousy sable which annoy him to due the femininity of the curls and widow's peak. A dark tan from the constant desert sun makes his hazel eyes flash with humor or - more often - mischief, and his ready smile shines white.

Personality: As the son of a small Holder near Ista, he spent his childhood working with the family, and thus gained a quiet contentment and sense of humor which serves him well in times of stress. Used to hard work and always having something to do, the chores given to the candidates and later, to the weyrlings, will be somewhat of an ironic comfort. Known amongst his family for his quiet and empathy, he often was the ear for any small troubles his mother or sisters held. He has an older brother, which allowed him to come to the new Weyr when he was Searched. The fact that he was younger often made him feel smaller, and much of his quiet is due to his assurance that his opinion matters little. "When I want_your_opinion, I'll give you one," his father used to say. However, he smiles easily, particularly at himself, and is generally friendly when addressed, although he rarely starts a conversation.

Skills: He was taught by the Harpers at Ista Hold along with many of the other children, and plays the gitar and drums passably.
