We have a terrible problem! A good friend of mine, and a fellow Skoki member, is in need of our help! Her mom "is threatening to ban her from Skoki" Why? Her mom says that it's "because she's always on it and she won't let her see her messages she types" (hey, sometimes I don't let anyone see, and sometimes I minimize everything and sit staring at the screen until my brother or mom goes away) This is very bad! Why? Because no one should be banned on those grounds alone! I talked to her, and she said this might help her to keep from being banned.

Why should this player, who plays Castle Mountains Moonlight Dreamer and others, not be banned? Because Skoki is a great learning experience. How so? Well, first off you get to talk to people from all over the world! I have made many friends since I opened this place up and I know other people have too. Why, I have friends in Oregon, Texas, England, West Virginia, Florida. Everywhere! Skoki Valley, and all RPGs, give opportunity to come in contact with new ways and new people.
Another reason is because you learn from Skoki Valley. You learn about the wolf and it's ways. Behavior, actions, threats, and many other things. Skoki Valley has inspired lots of sites to open, and that increases the knowledge to HTML!
And the last main reason is Skoki Valley can improve you academically. I know this from experience. Last year I was writing 2 and 3 english reports. My last one was a 5+. From a 3 to a 5+! The highest you can get is 6 and that is a perfect paper! Skoki Valley improves writing skills a great deal, and lol, look what I'm doing, writing a pursuasive essay.
So you see, this is very wrong, she should not be banned from Skoki Valley because she is on it a lot! If she's on it a lot, that is good! She is learning like everyone else who plays on Skoki. So if you also feel that this is wrong and/or if you have another reason why she should not be banned from Skoki, please post a message below. This will be taken off Monday morning and sent to her so she can print it out and give it to her mom. Thanks, and please help!

  • ..Don't!.. -- - aurora -, 14:18:58 06/23/01 Sat
    ..Don't ban her from Skoki Valley! Lots of kids, and even adults, don't want their parents.. or children.. to see what they're typing. Just because of that doesn't mean its bad. And RPG's are a great english teacher. It's good for your writing skills. Don't ban her from Skoki Valley! That's all we ask!

  • A Letter of Reason -- Edani and Co. (aka Liz), 14:21:29 06/23/01 Sat
    Dear Mother who is concerned,
    I am, like your daughter, a member of the site Skoki Valley and I do spend a great deal of time on the computer. I also, on occasion, I minimize the screen window so that my mom can't see what I am typing. Why? Because I'm somewhat embarassed about it... not because anything is bad. In the rules of Skoki Valley no sexual content or swearing is allowed. Those who break the rules often suffer consequences. Thus, it never happens and there is nothing to worry about. Anyway, the reason I'm embarassed about Skoki Valley sometimes is because my mom doesn't understand the concept of Role Playing... I've tried but can't explain it and I often feel dumb or idiotic because she doesn't understand why I Role Play. Thus I hide it from her. Perhaps it is the same with your daughter? If so, there is no reason to worry, she just doesn't want to feel odd because you might not understand why she does this. Fianally, if you are concerned about the amount of time she spends on the computer, perhaps limit it and ask her to spend a little more time with you but dont take it away completely... that doesn't serve any purpose... Compare it to this, you have a child who eats candy too much, you can limit it, and the child would still be happy but wouldn't get sick because they ate it too much... or you can take it away completely and the child could be sad. Okay, that was kind of a dumb example but I hope you got the idea.

    Thanks for listening,
    Liz

    *~|~* Dear concerned Mother, *~|~*
    I can understand why your daughter doesnt want you seeing what she writes,I dont like that myself.The reason we do this is because we are embarrased of what adults will think of our writing.It's scary to think of what kind of reaction we could get,so we usually pull away from expressing how we role play.The only person I EVER tell about how I role play that I know,is my cousin.Out of all ythe people in my family,its just her.Why?,you ask?Because we understand eachother in that small section of our life.Like the Owner Of Shoki Valley said,you can learn more about the animal you are playing,which is a VERY good thing if you want a cureer that has to do with animals.I have learned,so much about the way canines and lupines act since I started role playing.

    I have an idea for your daughter so you can get an idea about how this IS an o.k. site.Maybe you can look at some other peoples writing,instead of hers.It would probaly help,and show you how much we learn from just rping.

  • A message from the longest active player in the InsideTheWeb/Voy board RPG community... -- J.W., 15:00:05 06/23/01 Sat
    Madame:

    I have been playing on message board RPGs since I was 7 years old. For half my lifetime, I have been learning and growing along with other teens and preteens as we use somthing that, unfortunatly, many children no longer use- our imaginations.
    Many of us, including myself, do not like our parents reading what we type, because, with all due respect, ma'am, they may not understand exactly <i>why</i> their child is playing wolves. Even I still feel this way, and I had settled this same arguement with my own mother at the age of nine years.
    Perhaps you and your daughter should look through the site together. Then you'll understand that we aren't rebelling, we're exploring our own creativity in a healthy way. After all, wolves don't do drugs, they don't shoot each other down, or drop atomic bombs on each other, or many other horrible things that we humans tend to do. Would you rather have her experiance these things when she could be in Skoki?

    And, as others have stated before I, RPGing is, indeed, an adaquate teacher of grammer, spelling, and the English language as a whole. What Role player wants to look foolish because of a mispelled word or incorrect grammer? Not I. Not many others who increase their writing abilites every day by simply pretending.

    To the Concerned Mother:

    It may seem hard to understand why your daughter won't let you see what she's typing. It probably has made you think that Skoki is a bad place to be. But it's not!

    I had the same argument with my dad once. It's hard to see why your daughter plays wolves. But, like many others have said, Skoki Valley is a place for learning-not only grammer and spelling, but how canines and lupines act. I have learned much about wolves in the few months that I have been role-playing here!

    Perhaps you and your daughter should spend some time looking through the site together.

    Signed,

    My mom feels the same way, but she's not about to keep me from <u>my friends</u> that I have made through this game! Game it might be, but it has improved my writing skills and I have met people all over the place. It's widened my horizons..

  • Ahhhh no banning, that's just not good. -- Tarjine, long time player, 16:54:52 06/23/01 Sat
    Dear concerned mother of a fellow Skoki,

    Please, reconsider your actions. I see why you may be confused, or angry, that your daughter is online too much. My mother and myself have went through the same, but she sees why I love RPing - that is, role playing.

    Aside from being <I>excellent</I> in helping english, it's also a way to express creativity, which doesn't get to shine very often any more. At Skoki, the owner keeps it very real, and everyone learns about wolves - their diets, behavior, ranking, and physical form. There is nothing sexual, nothing vulgar, and nothing unacceptable to parents at all. If you must, yes, limit her time, but do not ban her! Skoki is a wonderful place to grow and learn, to make new friends and to express interest in an incredible animal! This is the first RPG I joined, and it's taught me all my skills, I must say. My grades in english went up an entire letter grade, as well, and my creative writing improved greatly! Please, don't ban her. She's a good player and she will be missed if you do.... but she shouldn't leave!

    With all due respect,
    Sasha Kansons, player of Tarjine and her family

    Dear Concered mother,
    I have been playing on this site for three years and , since I was 10 and on other rpgs throughout the net since I was 7. Im 13 now and have gotten all A's in English since second grade, thats not saying Im good I almost flunked English in first. Sure my mother tried to do this too but we made a reasoning. I laid off a little and stayed on the site. Please do not ban your child from skoki valley rpg. Why you may ask. First off Skoki valley is a learning expeirience you learn the ranks, signals and lifestyles of wolves which may come in handy later in life. Also it improves grammer and computer skills. Secondly, it gives players a great opertunity to meet people all around the world I have good friends from ENGLAND and Canada not to mention all everybody from the US. The reason your daughter is on so much is she is one of the few, the proud the brave, devoted players left at skoki. Please do not take her away from us, reconsider.

    Thank you,
    Riki

    I have been on Skoki Valley for over a year now, and I have never found a reason for me to quit. If your daughter is going on Skoki Valley, think of the places she's <i> not </i> going to on the net. I've always found it hard to let people read what I've been typing. It's just a privacy issue that a lot of people get with things that are very important to them.
    Skoki Valley can become a small part of your life, and a great one. I've learned so much about wolves from it, I've even looked up things on the net, about wolves, edcuational stuff, so I could try to RP on Skoki better. Everything about Skoki is clean and totally child friendly ((I'm a child, and I haven't found <i> any </i> refrences or things that involve what most parents are concerned about, mostly things to do with sex.))
    I think you should give your daughter a chance with Skoki, maybe if you got her premission, and looked over the site, you'd find out it's not so bad. Maybe you'd even like it!

  • A... former... member of Skoki... -- Former player of Ice Star..., 07:27:32 06/24/01 Sun
    To the Mother whom this is concerned...

    If you are worried because your daughter closes the screen when you walk past, trust me, it is not because of the contents of the message. No swearing, nor profanity is allowed in Skoki Valley. I happen to do the same thing, because.... well, personally, I feel embarassed about such things. Which is entirely natural. I'm sure that half of the players here do exactly that, since it seems as if writing this way needs a certain amount of privacy. If you have others looking over your shoulder, you have the tendancy to believe they'll critisize you. Not only is this site entirely child-safe, you learn quite a bit off of it. Ever since I joined, I've rekindled my love for this beautiful specie. Not only that, but my grammar, spelling, and sentence structure has greatly improved. My grades have not risen, due to the fact it takes extremely little effort to recieve an A in my English and Literature classes. However, I once got in an argument with my homeroom teacher, as she joked that I was barely literate, and was surprised when I sat down to write a few paragraphs. The next day I handed in two papers, each with a "scene" from an rpg site, that I had written on the spot. One was of dragons... the other of wolves. I recieved extra credit, and she acknowledged the fact that I was much more literate than she thought possible for one of my age. I'll cut this short, as I don't want you to have to spend hours upon hours reading all these posts... I believe you should let your daughter take you on a "tour" of Skoki Valley. I know people who are as old as my mom playing on rpg sites, and ten to one I'll bet at least one of them plays on Skoki Valley. I have a feeling you'll enjoy it, especially if you take time to read one of the longer, more intricate posts, and see what are daily lives are like...

I have gotten many 100's on my assignments from just writing about my role play experiences! I, too, refuse to let my parents see what I'm doing or typing. Mostly, that's because I just feel sort of embarassed. After all, RPG characters are often not like the player, and when my parents do see, they like to question me about the character. A lot of the time they think I'm hiding something. I'm not. I just like privacy sometimes. And being on the computer helps with a person's education. I've learned lots of things on-line, and now, after all these RPGs, I want to grow up to be an author! Skoki is a great RPG, and no one should be banned from it on these grounds!

  • Please do not ban her -- Mark, 10:19:30 06/24/01 Sun
    Dear Concerned Mother,

    Everything said here is true, although I am newer than some to role-playing, it wouldn't hurt to hear from an 18 year old's point of view. (No offense to anyone out there) You really should not ban her from this site, or any RPG (role-playing-game). You are taking away vital lessons.

    Although it hasn't really helped my english grade because I am already a straight A english student, role playing does enhance your writing abilities. I know this by witnessing my friend, the owner of this site, improve her english grade by atleast twelve points. Her teacher also noticed the change in her grade, and questioned her. The reason being Skoki Valley.

    I have made few friends so far during my stay, but I have made them. Friends are important to a person socially and emotionally. There are some things someone just can't tell their parents or relatives because they don't feel comfortable. They also do not feel comfortable saying it to a friend for fear of rejection or a misunderstanding, or even in fear of the possibility that it could hurt them if the two friends turned enemies. Things like this can only be said to a friend who cannot harm them if the friend is lost, an internet buddy. Lord knows I've gave advice to plenty of my friend's internet friends. RPGs are a good source of these internet buddies, and few of them turn into enemies.

    This game also teaches a lot about wolves, their enemies, their behavior, diet, threats, and actions. Before I came here, I knew your basic wolf knowledge. Wolves were animals about the size of a german shepherd who were persecuted back in the 1500's. Now I know all about the afore mentioned items and much more. Wolf RPGs, and every RPG for that matter, teach about what they are based upon, giving valuable knowledge for the future.

    As many have suggested, a good alternative, if you must carry through with your intentions, is to limit her time. Give her atleast one or two hours to spend on Skoki Valley, and then maybe she could spend time with you, do homework, or care for pets she might have. Do not ban her though, she would be missing out on some important education.

    Sincerely,
    Mark Ketron
    And if it helps any, it's Saginaw Valley State University

  • About Role Playing Games such as Skoki [from the viewpoint of a 14-year old] -- Sunshine a.k.a. Sky Rain, 11:28:30 06/24/01 Sun
    <font face="Skia"><font color="green">
    I can understand why you might worry about your daughter's role-playing, especially since she won't let you see it, but there are many reasons why I believe that you should look a little closer at Skoki before making a decision. I believe that the best way that I can express these reasons is by sharing my own experiences, because my love of RPGs is what I know the most about. <BR>
    About a year ago, at the beginning of my summer vacation between eighth and ninth grade, I was checking the guestbook of my (at the time) tiny little website when I found an entry by someone who asked if I would please check out their RPG. I had no idea what an RPG was, but I went to their site out of curiousity - and as soon as I looked at the message boards, I knew that this was what I had been looking for all along. <BR>
    I had visited chatrooms occasionally in the past, but I found them boring and full of people who made up characters (who, frighteningly, seemed to all the clones) that they pretended were their true selves. All the same, I occasionally went back because I longed to meet different and interesting people, and I kept hoping that one might stumble in there. <BR>
    On the RPGs, though, people don't hide the fact that their characters are pure imagination - that's the point! And you can often talk normally while playing out your character (that's what OOC stands for - Out Of Character) and in doing so I've met some of the most creative, imaginative people out there, and formed some really strong friendships in and out of character.
    Also, when you're playing a character, you can often make them say or do things that you never would in real life. For example, a really quiet, shy girl could make a character that's loud and outgoing, and a hyper, open person could create a character that's mysterious and secreative. This stretches people's imaginations and helps to form creative-writing skills from points of view other than their own.<BR>
    It also makes you think of how to be unique and pay attention to detail, which I had to do right away. Sky Rain, my wolf character, was originally going to to be black, but when I looked around I saw that a good precentage of the wolves were black too, and I came up with something a little different. <BR>
    And RPing has taught me one of the most valuable skills possible - knowledge of HTML, which is something that nobody else in my family has. That is absolutely the thing I'm proudest to know, and I've built almost my entire website by writing straight HTML. And I learned the basics on a role-playing game when I asked someone how they changed the color of their message.<BR>
    In conclusion, role-playing games are ways of formulating relationships, taking chances without any possibility of getting hurt, and increasing creativity and the ability to think ahead. As someone suggested, you should ask your daughter to share her world with you.<BR> <BR> <BR><CENTER>You just might learn something new.<BR><BR></CENTER><LEFT>

    I don't know your daughter, but I play many characters in Skoki. I would have to agree with Midnight/De, Skoki does teach you things. I already had good writing skills, but they got even better. It used to be that I couldn't stand writing because I really never found out how I could use my writing skills. Skoki helped me find that. I've learned many a thing about wolves, which I am not going to list. Skoki has even made me want to read more, with the books that people are writing on it. Skoki is more than just role play. It's a classroom, too.

  • DON'T ban her from Skoki!!! -- A visiting wolf, 07:23:27 06/25/01 Mon
    Role-playing helps you with many skills. Before I joined RPGs, I didn't know anything about computers. Now, I know more than my dad, and he is the one who fixes ours when it is broken.

    Role-playing also helps with social skills. You learn how to communicate better, and how to better out your thoughts down on paper, because obciously, you can't talk to one another verbally. You also make a ton of new "friends".

    Another major GOOD thing about Role-playing via the 'Net is it REALLY improves your writing. Before I started RPing, my writing was...well... not that great. Now, it's a lot better. For example, earlier on this year, in February or so, I started getting a TON of papers to write from my English teacher. I got a 2 out of 2 on conventions and a 4 out of 4 in content on all of them!!!! AKA, perfect paper. Scratch "Hooked on Phonix", have your kids join an RPG!!!

    Finally, the reason she may not let you read some of her messages is, well, they are kinda personal. They aren't bad or anything, though. You just wouldn't understand. For example, if you read a message that went,

    <i>She leaps playfully on her sister's back, and bites lightly on her scruff. Then, she leaps off, and picks up a nearby stick. Growling playfully, she starts to run off. "Betcha you can't get it!" She giggles.</i>

    You probably wouldn't get it, right? That is just a classic puppy post. Just because she doesn't want you to read her messages doesn't mean they are bad, as I said. If you don't believe me, get a list of your daughter's characters, and look all over the site for messages she has posted.

  • The Reason -- FireStorm, 08:25:33 06/25/01 Mon
    First off this is a a story on how RPing helped me in many ways.

    When I was little I was often fascinated with canines of all types. I even memorized all the dog breeds at age 7. Soon after that when me and my dad went on walks and see a dog I would point out the breed and tell him all I knew about that specific breed. I also -in rare cases- was able to guess what breeds were in a mixed breed.

    Later on in our local bookstore I stumbled upon the famous 'zoo books' magazines. (I was about 8 at the time) and I found the wolf one. Then I asked my mom if she could buy it. I guess she figured it learning so she bought it.

    I read that book everday. I loved it. I would even go into the encyclopedia looing for wolves in there too. So I found my love for canines, and at even a young age my future career. A vet. Yet of course my career ideas have changed drasticly over the years. Vets, doctors, breeders. Now I have one that I truly like and wish to stay with until my mind changes again. An Author. Of course I don't know of what, since I am only 14.

    Anyways I grew up and I loved wolves. They were a highlight to me. My mom even let me rent <u>educational</u> videos on them. I know it's hard to beleive but in elementary school on my free time I would watch national geographic wolves.

    The years passed at that. My highlights in school. The teacher reading my stories out to the class. I was always imaginative. Becoming a better artist, of canines of course.

    Then when I hit great 12. I finally found a way to get on the internet without my parent's help. As I surfed the net I went into chatrooms. One chatroom I liked and I chatted in there for a few days until one member said they were going to 'wolf home'.

    A very famous chat in the RPing world. She happily gave me the adress and I went there, joined, and I chatted there for a couple months.

    If you are unsure of WolfHome is is a visual based chat. The backrounds are different habitats, and you are a picture in the backround. The pictures were wolves. Of course you can pick odd and random colors for your wolves. I still enjoyed it very much. Chatting, while being my favorite creature.

    Well one day WH ran into some trouble with the server and was down temporarily. They had a forum at that time and some unhappy users were complaining becuase they wanted to chat. One person -my guess an RPer- yelled at them. She then diverted their attention and told them about Midnight Wolves. My very first RPGing site.

    When I first went to Midnight Wolves I was baffled to what to do. I thought that the people were stupid for *throwing sticks at each other* or *growling for submission*. So I asked on the Main Board what the place was.

    You wouldn't beleive it if I told you but in a week 10 people replied cheerfully explaining what RPing was. One post had a defenition that clearly sticks out in my mind.

    "A world where one's imagination shows them their destination as another kin"

    My translation of that may be different to yours but the idea the same.

    I stood back that day after reading all those posts and I realized that this was the type of thing that I enjoy doing. My fun.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    That was just how RPing helped me by letting me become my favorite animal.
    Now the reasons she should stay in this flourishing environment is simple.
    ~Imagination- It's not healthy to lock her imagination away. You should be proud that she is one of the few children in this world that is able to make up a character, and have that character deal with things in this fantasy world.
    ~Moods- RPing not only is a fun thing I enjoy doing. It is also my cyber-stress-ball. Most people can tell clearly what my mood is by how my character (character is the wolf you play or create) is acting. She may be using Skoki and other RPGing sites to releive her stress, but don't take it away, and don't try to help her yourself. This is a perfectly healthy way to cope with your moods.
    ~Grammar- The beginning of my 7th grade year, my grammar and LA was horrible. But towards the end it changed and I got better. My D's turned to B's.
    ~Careers- I imagine that imbedded in these characters are future vets, *authors*, site creators, screenplay writers, the list is endless...
    So all I have to say is that RPing changed my life, his life, her life, and I bet that in some way it changed your duaghters life too.
  • The Reason -- FireStorm, 08:26:50 06/25/01 Mon
    First off this is a a story on how RPing helped me in many ways.
    When I was little I was often fascinated with canines of all types. I even memorized all the dog breeds at age 7. Soon after that when me and my dad went on walks and see a dog I would point out the breed and tell him all I knew about that specific breed. I also -in rare cases- was able to guess what breeds were in a mixed breed.
    Later on in our local bookstore I stumbled upon the famous 'zoo books' magazines. (I was about 8 at the time) and I found the wolf one. Then I asked my mom if she could buy it. I guess she figured it learning so she bought it.
    I read that book everday. I loved it. I would even go into the encyclopedia looing for wolves in there too. So I found my love for canines, and at even a young age my future career. A vet. Yet of course my career ideas have changed drasticly over the years. Vets, doctors, breeders. Now I have one that I truly like and wish to stay with until my mind changes again. An Author. Of course I don't know of what, since I am only 14.
    Anyways I grew up and I loved wolves. They were a highlight to me. My mom even let me rent <u>educational</u> videos on them. I know it's hard to beleive but in elementary school on my free time I would watch national geographic wolves.
    The years passed at that. My highlights in school. The teacher reading my stories out to the class. I was always imaginative. Becoming a better artist, of canines of course.
    Then when I hit great 12. I finally found a way to get on the internet without my parent's help. As I surfed the net I went into chatrooms. One chatroom I liked and I chatted in there for a few days until one member said they were going to 'wolf home'.
    A very famous chat in the RPing world. She happily gave me the adress and I went there, joined, and I chatted there for a couple months.
    If you are unsure of WolfHome is is a visual based chat. The backrounds are different habitats, and you are a picture in the backround. The pictures were wolves. Of course you can pick odd and random colors for your wolves. I still enjoyed it very much. Chatting, while being my favorite creature.
    Well one day WH ran into some trouble with the server and was down temporarily. They had a forum at that time and some unhappy users were complaining becuase they wanted to chat. One person -my guess an RPer- yelled at them. She then diverted their attention and told them about Midnight Wolves. My very first RPGing site.
    When I first went to Midnight Wolves I was baffled to what to do. I thought that the people were stupid for *throwing sticks at each other* or *growling for submission*. So I asked on the Main Board what the place was.
    You wouldn't beleive it if I told you but in a week 10 people replied cheerfully explaining what RPing was. One post had a defenition that clearly sticks out in my mind.
    "A world where one's imagination shows them their destination as another kin"
    My translation of that may be different to yours but the idea the same.
    I stood back that day after reading all those posts and I realized that this was the type of thing that I enjoy doing. My fun.
    That was just how RPing helped me by letting me become my favorite animal.
    Now the reasons she should stay in this flourishing environment is simple.
  • some posts that you should consider reading -- FireSTorm, 06:31:39 06/26/01 Tue
    These are some of my posts that I wrote, you can decide wether RPing helped my grammar some what.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Post 1-

    Back round to post: charge has been living in this pack for a while now. While he was gone a wolf came in demanding a challenge for his rank. Charge comes back and the wolf mysteriously is gone. This is Charge's retalliation...

    ::+-+::Charge surveyed the horizon. His wintery coat wearing off, the grey slowly falling out to basset his regular lusterous fawn-colored beige. He turned back to Spark, then behind her at the nigrescent forest. No intruders::+-+::

    ::+-+::He growled heftily as he trodded through the land. Making sure it was safe of intrusion. Once he was satisfyed with the deadly silence of the territory he walked up to Spark. Laying down feet away from her he said.::+-+::

    ..:<i>Seems that male fled, I'll give him a few more days to show and fight. Not that he would serve the rank well.</i>:..

    ::+-+::He muttered a few inaudible terms of the unseen male. Then got up and shook his ruff. He looked at Spark and said, more buoyant than before::+-+::

    ..:<i>but in the meantime I'll go hunting</i>:..

    ::+-+::After making sure that alpha knew where he was headed too he trotted out, soon gaiting up to a run::+-+::
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Post 2- Backround to post- DesertWind and FireStorm are prominent members of a pack, but the pack gets yet another newcomer. This newcomer showed no regard to the pack bounderies, and worst of all ased for the high rank. This is DesertWind's retalliation, with FireStorm in there too towards the end.
    ::+-+::He senses the intrusion and looks over to see the male. Asking absurdly for the blessed rank. He growled and trotted over.::+-+::
    ::+-+::Infront of the male stood the dignified Iota, tail flagged in the air. Orange eyes peircing for submission. He growled and clasped his jaw around the other male's mouth in dominance and held it. Between his crushing jaws he spoke::+-+::
    ..:<i>You are foolish indeed, barging into a territory and asking to have the preeminent rank. Do you not understand that satria does not give that rank away to anyone so easily? Only the strongest, wisest, and best. You certainly aren't wise for doing that. You also couldn't possibly be strong. Unless your a fluke</i>:..
    ::+-+::DesertWind gradually let go of the male and stepped back. Tail still high.::+-+::
    ::+-+::Upon her rock FireStorm saw the act. She raised an eyebrow and shook her ruff. Yet another adolescent male trying to make a name for himself::+-+::
    ::+-+::She smirked in gratification at DesertWind's quick reflexes. He was surely getting stronger as the months passed on. She looked around for Satria, hoping that DesertWind would get some assitance. Incase the wolf didn't realize of DesertWind's rank. If DesertWind needed help FireStorm would most certainly jump in. She too was an Iota::+-+::
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Post 3- Backround to post- After DesertWind's show of dominance over the newcomer the newcomer lashed out to fight him. This is DesertWind's retalliation (but more so FireStorm's)

    ::+-+::DesertWind kicked off the wolf. He jumped upright and growled. Blood racing freely from his open wound. He advanced forward. Tail high. He lunged for the wolf's throat then grabbing it he swung the wolf down hard on his back and held him there with one paw on his throat. He growled and spoke::+-+::

    ..:<i>Seems a temper is ignorant of his place in this world.</i>:..

    ::+-+::He let up the newer omega and stepped back. He looked behind him to see his cousin slipping from her rock. A rare thing for her to do. He muttered solemnly under his breath::+-+::

    ..:<i>Now you've done it</i>:..

    ::+-+::The white femme trodded over to the ordeal. Checking the gazes of each member. She then looked at the wolf DesertWind had released. She shook her head and opened her mouth to speak.::+-+::

    ..:<i>Lower your tail wolf. You are not winning the heart of Satria as easily as you think. Lashing out at one of her best warriors</i>:..

    ::+-+::The female circled him, sniffing him for any traces of good. None. She stopped infront of him and said::+-+::

    ..:<i>maybe you aren't a messenger of good. Maybe your just blood-thirsty</i>.:..

    ::+-+::FireStorm looked at the pack then back at the male and said.::+-+::

    ..:<i>I am not going to fight, I see many of these wolves eager to get a piece of you. Including DesertWind. I'm going to watch</i>.:..

    ::+-+::then slowly she trotted out of the circle and layed on the dusty ground ears erect for what might happen::+-+::
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Post 4- Backround to post- This is a classic fighting post of FireStorm's.
    ::+-+::FireSTorm looked over to see a weary wolf come up. She growled heftily, showing that she accepted the challenge blithely.::+-+::
    ::+-+::Circling on tender-foot she watched with grim thoughts. Slowly she moved sideways, circling the wolf. She tardily lowered her body to the ground. So that she could pounce, but still be quick and able if need be.::+-+::
    ::+-+::Her ears slowly went back, portraying her wrathful indignation. Her true side that had been kept locked up now able to show itself. Her blood boiled inside her. A crimson ruby liquid of life and death.::+-+::
    ::+-+::The ground her feet hit delicatly was a dusty brown. No vegetation on it since wolves scratched it up while trying to escape from the acrimony of another.::+-+::
    ::+-+::The time lapsed on slowly, monontonously. Pinpricking the perfect moments. That was FireStorm's tactic of doing things. Picking the exact time, at the exact moment, to do the perfect attack. To excell in perfection in getting the prize of success. A triumphant thought indeed, but not a far-off one.::+-+::
    ::+-+::FireStorm had only taken a few slow steps, taking into consideration that suspense was the greatest tool one could learn. Slow, malicious, mysterious suspense. Sending a chill of awe up and down ones spine.::+-+::
    ::+-+::Icy blue oculars size the wolf up and down. Slowly, calculating the every movement, breath, and heartbeat. Ears picking up each sound and moment. The raspy wheezing of even a far off bear could be heard by her. But she continued to circle the wolf, slow and steady::+-+::
    ::+-+::Minutes droned on but she continued. The moment still wasn't right. It still wasn't perfect. She thrived on perfection, without it she wouldn't win the affection of her pack. She wouldn't be raised as a full-fledged warrior. She would teach other wolves how to fight with utmost decency. She wouldn't be herself.::+-+::
    ::+-+::She thirsted on the life and blood of another kin. It was needed to drive her on to get more::+-+::
    ::+-+::Her eyes darted from body part to body part. Finding a weak spot. Could it be the neck, which held the blessed jugular. The legs, which one strived to be swift on. The back, the base to the wolves' finely toned body.::+-+::
    ::+-+::No, FireSTorm was much smarter than her comraded allies. She went for something that would bring a wolf down so that they were helpless besides defense.::+-+::
    ::+-+::FireStorm looked at the head of the wolf watching her. Her muscles tensed, she stopped, all was still.::+-+::
    ::+-+::The crickets could be heard over FireStorm's husky breathing. Her eyes wide with hunger. The pangs of time killing her needs::+-+::
    ::+-+::She lunged...A blur of white siezed the victim in sovereign perfection. The least expected time, a perfect wait. FireStorm clasped on the muzzle of the perpetrator and bit down, holding her body over the other. Fore legs tense incase of a counter-attack. The opponent's jaw started to break...::+-+::
  • Don't do it! -- Corlath, 06:39:08 06/27/01 Wed
    Dear Mother of RPer:
    I am not a member of the discussed site, but I know many who are, and would like to point out that RPG sites are very important to all aspects of a person's personality. In fact, not only do these sites improve your grades, they also improve organization skills, social skills, and are GREAT therapy! For example, when you are a member of an rpg, you must keep track of multiple friendships, packs, and many other things. They improve creativity, which has been said to be the most important skill of all, but they also give you a place where you can be yourself without being judged for social status, skin color, appearence, or how much money you have. It is only natural for your child to minimize a window merely because the RPG site is so close to their heart. RPGs bring out things in teens and preteens that no adult created things can give your child. They give them comfort, help problem solving abilities, and are just plain FUN!
    If you still feel displeased with your child, then talk to him/her and explain how you feel. Prehaps use the site to motivate them to do the things that you want them to do BEFORE using the computer. Prehaps make a checklist on a dry erase board of chores that need to be done, or even a time limit that can be spent on the computer. Still, think of an rpg as if your child is reading AND helping to write a five hundred page novel as they sit by the computer. Be thankful that they are not frying their brains playing video games or watching television. Look at all of the people who are writing to you to tell you how positive RPG sites are. Just think that if this many people see these benefits, and still participate, then this must prove to you that people care about your child, and about LEARNING. Let it show you that kids today really DO care about what is best for them in learning, a fact that is unseen by many parents in today's society. Be happy that your child is participating in something so wonderful as an RPG site.
