Subject: Don't do it!

Dear Mother of RPer:

I am not a member of the discussed site, but I know many who are, and would like to point out that RPG sites are very important to all aspects of a person's personality. In fact, not only do these sites improve your grades, they also improve organization skills, social skills, and are GREAT therapy! For example, when you are a member of an rpg, you must keep track of multiple friendships, packs, and many other things. They improve creativity, which has been said to be the most important skill of all, but they also give you a place where you can be yourself without being judged for social status, skin color, appearence, or how much money you have. It is only natural for your child to minimize a window merely because the RPG site is so close to their heart. RPGs bring out things in teens and preteens that no adult created things can give your child. They give them comfort, help problem solving abilities, and are just plain FUN!

If you still feel displeased with your child, then talk to him/her and explain how you feel. Prehaps use the site to motivate them to do the things that you want them to do BEFORE using the computer. Prehaps make a checklist on a dry erase board of chores that need to be done, or even a time limit that can be spent on the computer. Still, think of an rpg as if your child is reading AND helping to write a five hundred page novel as they sit by the computer. Be thankful that they are not frying their brains playing video games or watching television. Look at all of the people who are writing to you to tell you how positive RPG sites are. Just think that if this many people see these benefits, and still participate, then this must prove to you that people care about your child, and about LEARNING. Let it show you that kids today really DO care about what is best for them in learning, a fact that is unseen by many parents in today's society. Be happy that your child is participating in something so wonderful as an RPG site.
