If you're looking for book ideas (I know, I got to pick the first one and I could have suggested this earlier...but you know....) I would love to read a fiction book by an American Indian woman. I have had several authors recommended to me recently by some of the people I work with but I haven't had a chance to actually pick up one and the book club would give me a great opportunity. The following authors have been recommended:

Louise Erdrich (all of her books, I'm told, are excellent)
Leslie Marmon Silko (Almanac of the Dead is mentioned a lot)
Linda Hogan (especially Power)
