I just got a CD by Jeff Buckley recently calle dGrace. I have heard a few of the songs already but I haven't listened to the whole CD. I think he has one of the most unique voices I ever heard. He was influenced by a lot of different genres. He has built an interest in me for Nina Simone's music.
I feel that his vocals had a lot of soul and he seemed to be in love with his craft. He seemed very passionate about music and about his own musicianship. He seemed to be very ambitious and I believe he really wanted to showcase his versatility and experiment with different styles.

Some of his song structures seem very unorthodox, I feel that they give each song a feeling of improvisation and mystery. I think that in his songwriting, melody was more important than lyricism. In some songs the narration of the lyrics seems disjointed to me.

At the same time the melody and tone seem onpoint and seem to resonate on a deeper level on the majority of his work. My favorite songs of his are "So Real" and "Landfill in the Sky". He was sayin gin an interview that alot of his songwriting was inspired by poems that were inspired by dreams he had in his sleep.

I've been considering using dream I wrote in dream journals as inspiration for creative-writin. I think it would be hard to consistently base poems on dreams because there's weeks at a time when I don't remember my dreams by the time I wake up.
