by now, aerin was too exhausted to chase away any other 'quines. her sweat stained flanks rose up and down unevenly, her breathing was laboured. the dappled brood purred softly to her infants, pride etched across her wearied features. velvety muzzle was rubbed across the babe's back, whuffing and purring softly to her treasure. both mother and daughter were wearied, though the filly, having eventually found her feet, was already searching for her first meal.

having filled herself with a suitable meal, the youth broke away from her mother's side to explore. she'd caught sight of the other beast close by, though unaware it was her father, she toddled towards him. oversized lobes flicked up, and the dial tilted back to observe the looming creature. then however, they flattened menacingly and the infant scampered back to her dam's side, hiding behind the wall of muscle and flesh and peeking out furtively every so often.

Lungs fill rapidly when vagabond sees his discovery. A babe and his missing dove safe and happy, much against his worries. Young'n trekes beyond the safety zone of mother. Twin pools of innocence and wonder peer into him. What did she see? A noble steed who would give his life to protect her or just a big scary guy? As juvenile turns and scampers away he starts to see how much personality she has at the age of, well nothing.
