Subject: Machine win home opener

The Montreal Machine won their 2006 home opener against the always competive Orlando Thunder, 30-3.

While Defense was the story of the game, so too was the Montreal Offensive Line as the Machine ran the ball 46 times for 183 yards and controlled the ball nearly 10:00 more minutes than Orlando.

Lawrence Phillips earned MVP of the game and for the week as he ran 30 times for 133 yards and crossed the endzone three times. Phillips is now only 111 yards short of 5,000 career rushing yards, and a TD shy of 50 for his career.

Rookie DT Michael Landry had a solid game on defense as he had three tackles and 2.0 sacks.

The Machine have won 8 games in a row at home (11 counting playoffs). The last home loss was against Orlando in week 14 of the 2004 season, 17-21.

The Machine will hope to keep the streak alive as they host the 1-1 New York Knights.
