Subject: Montreal takes care of San Antonio, 20-8

After some change of schedules, the Montreal Machine met a jet-lagged San Antonio team in the first round of the American Conference playoffs, as they easily won 20-8.

The New York Knights were scheduled to arrive, but after a last second change in the playoff schedule, the league reviewed and awarded the San Antonio Riders the #4 slot in the American Conference playoffs. San Antonio flew the red-eye out and made it in time, however many of the players were not mentally prepaired.

Montreal dominated for 59:59 of the game, and the only score given up was a last second Bishop to Hall pass as time expired.

Statistically, Montreal lead in first downs (27-11), Total Net Yards (401-184), and Time of Possession (41:33-18:27), to name a few.

The game was won on the ground, as HB Lawrence Phillips ran 19 times for 100 yards and a TD, while as a team, the Machine out ran San Antonio 46-160 to 8-26.

Montreal was given shocking news when they discovered Lawrence Phillips injured his hamstring, and will not be available the remainder of the playoffs. HB Madre Hill filled in for Phillips and an injured B.J. Askew as he ran 7 times for 28 yards and TD.

With the injury to Phillips, the Machine announced the signing of HB Carl McCullough (6'3, 230, Wisconsin). To make room for Mccullough, the team waived veteran PK Kendall Trainor.

In other news, long-time veteran HB Marvin Welch was announced as the starting HB for this weeks matchup against Sacramento. Montreal was 1-0 vs. Sacramento in 2007, as they won 20-7 in week 12.

Montreal is now 4-3 all-time in their playoff history under GM Harwood, and 4-0 all-time at home.
