Subject: End of an Era

Guys,

As you will soon see, from an article I have sent to Paul, I am stepping down as GM of Birmingham after five and a half seasons in this league.

Towards the end of last season, my motivation was slowly drifting away, in part due to taking on too much extra-curricular work, 3 other leagues, editor of one of the UK Fanzines, not too mention my work coaching the next Scott Couper's of this league, both at junior level with the Craigmount Cougars and at Senior Level with the Edinburgh Wolves Flag team. Add in the numerous Claymores Fan Meetings I attend, representing the view not only of the now infamous Lardy Boys, something had to give and unfortunately this is the first to go...... for now!

To those GM's that I have dealt with closely over the past few seasons, I thank you for all the good natured rivalry and hope to see many of you at Claymores events. Andrew Battye, you are more than welcome to come up to Edinburgh for the Superbowl.... I will be in touch.

To those GM's who are either new, or have tried to make trades with me this season, some of which I have not responded to, first let me say welcome and have fun. Secondly I would like to apologise for my unwillingness to trade, but as this decision has been on the cards since the beginning of the season, I have made a concious effort to keep draft picks and the core of the team intact for my predecessor. If I have not responded to you, please do not take offence, but rather by the time I have got round to responding to any offers, the trade deadlines have passed, or the trades you have offered are void, due to other transactions.

Finally, a BIG thank you to Paul for his tireless efforts in putting this league together and continuing to run it for so long - I hope that you manage to keep it going for another seven seasons at least.

And so for now, farewell..... for how long who knows!
