Even in an era when 75% completions in a game are becoming commonplace, yes, it was quite a feat.

But I think you're not seeing Murphy named with Barr, LaRocca, and Case because, as you mention, he's got no running game going. Look at previous yardage and completion leaders, like Pat Barnes and Jon Kitna, who had nothing else going for their team but to throw the ball 40+ times in a game. And nobody consideres them top echelon. I think until Murphy's playing with better surrounding players, he'll be categorized with the likes of Barnes--guys who play well in bad situations but have yet to prove themselves winners.
