Subject: Amsterdam GM Resigns

After seeing his Admirals narrowly miss the playoffs again, and ending up with another .500 season, Amsterdam GM Ton Vlaming announced his resignation today.

He failed in his stated goal to "reach the playoffs for the first time, within three years of taking the helm". Even so, Amsterdam fans were saddened by the news. Under Vlaming's guidance, the team has changed from being the league's punching bag to a team that has soundly beaten future WB champions. It is often said (usually by Vlaming himself), that it is only being stuck in the cut-throat EC-East that has kept the team from reaching the playoffs so far.

Despite pleas by the fans to reconsider, Vlaming remained adamant in his decision: "I said that I would take this team to the playoffs in three years and have failed to do so. I am a man of my word and so can do nothing else than resign. I will miss the fans, they have been great."

On a serious note: I really enjoyed this league, it must be setting some sort of durability record by now! Thanks to Paul and all you GMs for making my Monday mornings a lot more exciting :) Unfortunately, real life is taking its toll. I would have liked to see Shearer take the #1 all time receiver spot in a few years, but it is time to give up. Another season of missing the playoffs by a game or two would cause me an ulcer for sure! Keep it up and maybe see some of you at a NFL-E game sometime.

-Ton
