Subject: Inspirations

A wise man was once given a gift from a person wishing to spite him. When the wise man unwrapped it, he found only an empty box. He immediately smiled and praised the person responsible for the gift (the man did not want to be known so the box was sent anonymously).

He said "How thoughtful! This person has given me the most personal gift of all. It is up to me to decorate and fill this box as I wish. This person is not so presumptuous to assume that they know the best gift for me. This person also is completely confident in my abilities to do so and I pledge not to fail their opinion of me. I only hope that my choices is filling and decorations of this box will inspire freedom and confidence in others in the way this gift does by itself."

Everyone was impressed by the gift, and the person that had sent it gained a new respect for the wise man.

I wrote this story for the three people I feel have been the most inspirational to me:

Dr. Reuben Bullard
Dr. Steven Fine
John Brolley
(My father should also be mentioned, but since I did not send him a copy, he is not part of the three. He is a constant inspiration that I will never deny).

Thank you.
Bob Schwab
