This is why I have trouble accepting the "fall story" of Adam and Eve from Paul. (I don’t believe in a fall-story or the Adam & Eve story) God apparently told Adam and Eve to not eat from the tree that was in the middle of the garden. This tree apparently held the knowledge of good and evil. It wasn’t until Adam and Eve ate from this tree that they knew what good and evil was. Before that, they didn’t know what good or evil was. If Adam and Eve did not know what good and evil was, how could they then make the judgment that what the serpent was doing was evil when they didn’t know what evil was? How could they know if disobeying God was right or wrong if they didn’t have the knowledge of what evil is? Or of what bad is? How could they know that what they were doing was wrong when they didn’t know what wrong even was? This is the problem I have. Adam and Eve got punished for doing evil and yet, they didn’t know what evil was. How could then they know that what they were doing was evil when they didn’t know what evil was or what good was? Furthermore, my further problem with your story Paul is why on earth would God put that tree in the middle of the garden? WHAT PURPOSE DID IT HAVE IF IT WAS NOT TO BE EATEN FROM? Was God also so blind that when he put it there, he didn’t know that this being Satan would make Adam and Eve eat from the tree? Was God so blind that when he created Adam and Eve, he didn’t know that because Adam and Eve didn’t know what was right and what was wrong, that they would eat from it after being tricked by this being Satan? Was God so blind that when he planted the tree, he has no idea as to what would happen as of a result of his actions? Was this God then caught off-guard when his plan got sabotaged? Yet, despite the fact that God had a rebellious angel (according to Paul) running around at the time of creation and despite the fact that he created two beings without the knowledge of good and evil and despite the fact that he then put a tree that would give them this knowledge that would doom the human race to a fall, (as Paul states) God still went ahead with it and you’re telling me that your version has Gods plan sabotaged? Couldn’t God see that because Adam and Eve were blind to what is right and wrong, that Satan could easily trick them? Despite this, God then even puts a tree of "good and evil" in the middle of the garden so they can sin! What a Great idea God had to put that tree there! Two beings who don’t know what right and wrong is, a rebellious angel running around and God puts a tree in the middle of it! And yet, according to Paul, his Gods plan was sabotaged! Is God really that BLIND that he can’t see what his ACTIONS will lead to? IS God really so blind that he does something and then later is caught off-guard with surprises out of the blue? |
