Man was created to bring contrast to God's perfection. So even if he was created perfect, there needs to be some difference for the contrast. Without contrast there would be no separation form God.

It is this perceived separation that allows for the idea of imperfections to exist. That is why this world is considered to be the level of illusions. We must believe we are separate from God to believe in free will. However, we cannot fathom that God's ultimate plan cannot be thwarted by our decisions. Or that of this being called Satan that you give such power to.
