John sat up, but looked away from Nail. He hated being caught doing anything that made people feel sorry for him. He drew his knees up to his chin, and wrapped his arms around his legs, as if trying not to let any emotion show through. Nevertheless, he started talking. "I was in this giant cage, and every where around me are these bloody f*ckin' people just screaming stuff, and crying, reaching though the cage trying to touch me, and whatever else they were doing. So I look up, and there was mum and Stu, and another woman, maybe Paul's mum? I can't remember what she looked like. They were only there for a second, then replaced by these psychos screaming my name, and I looked out into the crowd and..." he pauses for a moment, turning his head slightly to look at her before looking away once more. "...you were there. The only one not going nutters." The tone of his voice shows that he felt humiliated by this dream, and so did the attempt to change the topic tht followed. "Why were you up?"
