Subject: What's in a name?!

I was just thinking how ironic the current Romantics situation is. I don't know if any of you remember reading the articles that were on the website that existed prior the "official" one. For those of you who don't know, there was specifically one article that mentioned the difficulties that the band went through in the mid to late 80's while they were involved in legal action versus their former managers.

The group was prevented from releasing any new material (which didn't stop Wally from claiming there was a new album coming out "soon") {We're STILL waiting Wally!} and things got to the point where the band members thought about dropping the name Romantics and adopting a new name, but they didn't want to give up the "name brand recognition" of the name Romantics.

The irony that I'm seeing here is that while the Romantics are sitting on their hands, whatever name brand recognition they have left is diminishing. They might as well have changed their name because no one outside of us long time fans even know who they are. They could have been releasing material all this time under the name "Hastings Street Hasbeens" or something similar. How much worse off could they have been? They must be too busy collecting and counting the residuals from the publishing rights to songs that are 15-25 years old to really care.
