Let's face it, folks, the Romantics will NEVER release an album of all-new material. It just isn't going to happen...although I, too, thought this colossal event MIGHT take place up until about a year ago. They obviously don't care enough about their dwindling fan base to even peek their heads into this message board every six months or so. Why, then, should we care? Honestly, I'm offically putting my time and energy into other interests...and hopefully ones that aren't all 'give' with no 'take'. Sure, I'll still listen to the old Romantics albums, and I'll still enjoy them. But, for me, the Romantics is now just a band that once upon a time recorded some great Pop music, but that hasn't existed as an active musical presence since the late 1980's. Oh, and by the way, I wrote a letter to Ma Nugent (yes, Ted's mom), who was a columnist for the Illinois Entertainer, way back in 1986, asking when the next Romantics next album was going to be released. Her response was that they were putting the finishing touches on it and that it should be released within the year (meaning 1987). I can also show you an article about the Romantics that came out in the Tempo section of the Chicago Tribune back in the fall of 1996. It was mostly about their past legal troubles...but it contained more than a few references to the album they were putting the finishing touches on. According to that article, the album was due to be released in the Spring of 1997. Anyone detect a pattern here? Goodbye, good luck, and lots of patience to you all.
