Subject: A little thing about respecting your guildmates....

You know, when I was put on the RK stone, I was given a little talk about respecting your mates. I've always done my best to uphold that standard, and I like to think that I've succeeded in that regard.

I've come to like and admire "most" everyone I've met in RK, including some ex members who I happened to hook up with thanks to an ad I placed on Stratics for help to gain provocation skills.

I know as with most things, and UO is no different, that sometimes personalities clash, and that's ok. However, during times like that, it's best to bite your tongue, or move along, instead of coming off fippant, rude and obnoxious, as some in RK have recently done to me.

Tonight I was invited out on a hunt and was told that they needed a bard where they were going. The place we went had monsters that were immune to my music, and pretty much immune to damage by warrior or even mages alone.

Tonight was the second time I had the opportunity to interact with these 2 particular members of RK. Both times pretty much the same outcome. One of them once again defensive; the other obnoxious and what I consider rude in making "off colour remarks" and thinking them funny. Over indulgence of alcohol was a definite factor the first time; I don't know what the excuse was this time.

Tonight, if they weren't running off in all directions but the one we were heading, they were lagging behind (not from lag). They charged into things they had no idea about and got killed because of it. I suggested in party that these creatures weren't able to be melee'd by warriors alone, or often mages alone, and that they should stick closer to everyone. But that seemed to fall on deaf ears. One would lag behind, while the other went running off in another direction completely.

I grew frustrated and decided to bow out of the hunt. Instead of saying anything to these people about this in game, I simply opted to bow out in the middle of the hunt, and told our party leader in ICQ the reason.

I made my excuses in game that I had to go, and seeing that I was told they needed a bard to be there, (and out of concern for the party leader trying to keep up with these 2) I suggested perhaps going to a place that didn't require a bard. But I mostly said it because of concern for leaving a hunt that my character was needed in.

The one person who got defensive the first time we hunted together, became flippant and made a comment about "WHY, does it matter to you?". I didn't understand the comment, and asked what they meant. They retorted back demanding to know how old I was and then said something else that I can't remember. I told this person that if they have a problem with me, to spit it out. They once again asked me how old I was. I told our party leader that I had to go, and that I'm sorry that some personalities just don't mix, and recalled out.

After I left, I found out that these 2 people started fighting amongst themselves and recalled out leaving the party leader alone.

Needless to say that I'm not at all impressed with these 2 particular individuals based on 2 meetings in game, both of which turned out badly. Because of that, I won't be interacting with them in game unless it's absolutely necessary, and most certainly never in a hunt again.

I play UO to have fun. I joined RK because I found alot of fun with the members who were on the stone at the time I joined. I play UO to lose the RL world and the crap that goes on in it. I don't need to be jumped on by defensive people who jump to conclusions.

I thought this guild was all about respecting your mates and having fun. I have found based on 2 meetings out of 2, that these particular members seem to have forgotten the respect portion of their pledge to RK.
