The best bibs are the really thin ones, not the quilted ones you can get at saddlerys. The reason is that the thick quilted ones don't sit still against the horse while the rug moves across the bib. The bib actually moves and makes the rubbing worse. The thin ones are just one layer of taffeta or satin or something similar and only cost about $10 in some saddlerys. I made my own one on my sewing machine and it cost me $2.75 all up.
