Subject: The Vision of an Ideal School

The vision I have for an ideal school goes back to the one room school. To have children of all ages learning together with one teacher. This school would be located in a church and offered to church members. The curriulum would be based on the bible. There are many ways the bible could integrate reading, Language arts, drama, history, and even Science across the curriculum. Although bible stories could be the source the initial teaching comes from we could get creative to spark the interest the children have. For example, while studying the story of the loaves and fish in the bible you could also do a Science unit on fish, do a Math activity, do drama acting out the story. The possibilities are endless. All of the activities could be made to meet the developmental needs of all ages. I know that a school like this could never get accredited. My thoughts are coming from the guidelines one might follow if homeschooling their children. The actual schedule of the day would be much shorter because of the number of students. As for my church, communion is served every day. This would be a part of the daily schedule for the children. Everything today seems so rushed. We are all in the rat race just trying to stay afloat. I believe this kind of environment would be very beneficial to our children. They get the socialization that everyone seems to think homeschooled children don't get. Yet, they are in a safe environment centered around God. This is the vision I have of an ideal school. I feel this vision will soon be a reality in my own church. God Bless!
