Subject: As she suspected, his shift had been rough - with it being the last weekend of summer, everyone was out and about. Not to mention the weather had gone for crap and it seemed that everyone had forgotten how to drive in the rain - so the past few days had been spent mostly working a variety of car wrecks. Emotionally exhausted more than anything - he had managed to get off at his scheduled 4:30, but traffic out of the city had been unbelievable and he had offered to drive a co-worker to her place, and was now positive his car had been making some foreign ka-thunk the last ten miles... So, it was almost 6:30 by the time he pulled up and he virtually had to drag himself out of the driver's seat. He now had the hood popped and was bent over his engine, looking to see if he could find anything..

  • She was still curled up in the porch swing but she was fast asleep. She had to be coming down with something, it wasn't natural to be able to sleep this much. Her skin was cool to the touch in the evening weather and her eyes were closed, wearing flannel lounging pants that she had dug out - none of her clothes were fitting her right anymore, and a large tee shirt of his sporting bob marley or hendrix or someone on it, she hadn't really payed attention.
