13th Annual Yap Ye Iswa (Day of the Catawba) Festival
Location: Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Notes: The Catawba Indian Nation would like to invite you to celebrate their rich culture and heritage. Yap Ye Iswa (Day of the Catawba), an annual festival, is an educational and entertaining event, open to the public with $1.00 admission fee for adults, children 5 and under, free. Hours are 10:00 am-4:00 pm.
At the Festival you will see, hear, touch, and taste many different and exciting things. The Catawba Drummers and Dancers will perform authentic Catawba songs and dances periodically during the day. There will also be demonstrations by Master Catawba Potters, beadwork demonstrations, and flint knapping; the ancient workmanship of making arrowheads. You may also see a puppet show done in the Catawba Language. There will be vendors set up on the grounds with Catawba crafts and pottery for sale. We will have Native American foods available for purchase, such as Indian tacos, roasted corn, and fry bread. Also, free for the tasting, venison stew.
