Subject: looking to copy dvd's and ps2 games with out a dvd-rom??

My little brother just got a ps2 and he asked if my burner can back up his games?
I have a cd-rom and burner on my computer but no dvd-rom. Is it possible to back up dvd's and ps2 games with out a dvd-rom?? and does my bro have to get that modchip and action pack thing??
