Subject: The latest idiocy re: Boobgate

The NFL has cancelled a Pro Bowl halftime performance by JC Chasez because he and Justin Timberlake were in *NSync together and they don't want "a repeat performance." Um, yeah, that makes sense.

I think Simon and I will skip the gothic wedding, but thanks for the link!

And Kurt's chalk work is amazing!

[> Max and Kelly's Elvis Impersonator Minister was on the Jon Stewart Show. -- wwolfe, 12:42:53 02/06/04 Fri (161.149.63.106)

Two or three nights ago, Stephen Colbert did a mock news report on how Britney Spears' 55-hour marriage "tarnished" Las Vegas's reputation (or, perhaps "reputation"). One of the people interviewed by Colbert was the Elvis Impersonator who officiated the renewal of the vows in Vegas. I pointed at my TV and said, "Hey!," or something equally incisive.

One of my favorite sites is one run by a fundamentalist Christian group devoted to convincing us that the rock and roll lifestyle is bad for your health, both physical and spiritual (take a breather, fellas - I'm convinced). It lists just about every known musician who's ever died, and then tells you the official cause of death. It's pretty impressive, in a morbid way (unfortunately, I don't know the URL). I was tempted to do something similar with American Presidents, given that they have an on-the-job mortality rate of something like 20% - much higher than that of rock stars.

This is a fun site:

This Day in Music

Oh - an interesting news item: Phil Spector's new lawyer is Leslie Abramson, who represented the Mendez Brothers in both of their murder trial (she went 1-for-2, which is great if you're a baseball player, but not so good if you're a defendant on trial for murder). My best friend in Ohio suggested that Phil could now produce a Righteous Brothers tribute album by the Menendez Brothers.

And it somehow seems cosmically unfair that Carl Wilson and Falco died the same day, and will thus be forever linked.

I'll try to watch for that Daily Show re-run. I thought that Elvis impersonator, all things considered, did a hell of a wedding. I've also seen him (and his hotel) on the travel channel from time to time. He's on the "best Vegas bathrooms" and "Vegas Weddings" shows.

"Do you wanna dance?" was the title - any song that gets wedding guests boogying in the aisles has to belong.
