I would like to speak about LOVE, not the love that those in the world speak of, but the LOVE that God says we are to have not for the world, or the things in the world, neither are we to love the wicked, for we will be held guilty with them. We are to LOVE the brethren and preach the gospel to the lost and such that are lost that are of God, will hear the Word of God, and come to the Lord with a true repentant heart, humble and acknowledging that the Son of God Jesus is truly the LORD, the Saviour of the World.
We know that the Truth is of God, and the Lord says His Word is sharper than any two edged sword. If we claim to be His, let us also live according to His instructions and his rules. We are to have a discerning heart as did Paul, and prepare the babes in Christ for unprecedented hardship, while they seek to walk the narrow path that leads to eternal life. We are to encourage the brethren and comfort them, and remind them of the Lord's stength.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. (Eph. 6:10)
1. Firstly let us look at how God's LOVE is to be shown. This we read in 1 Cor. 13:4-8
LOVE suffers long, and is kind; LOVE envies not; LOVE vaunts not itself, is not puffed up, Does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoicess in the truth; Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. LOVE never fails:
So here we have what LOVE is and what LOVE does. The love that the world speaks of, is not that LOVE, but the love that speaks only things that makes them feel good, don't say anything that will condemn them, or reveal what path they are on, or rebuke or correct any who have fallen by the wayside. In other words, they want to do their own thing and are encouraging others to do the same, under the guise of love. BUT the enemy of our souls, the Old Serpent is just as subtle today as he was when he beguild Eve in the garden. He is a master of disguise and is able to appear as the most saintly believer using scripture to his advantage by ommitting parts of the truth, making it sound apealing to the ears. Let us heed to the warnings in the Word of God and be awake at the tactics that we know of satan.
Remember the world are the many, and the elect are called the few, or remnant, the little flock. So it is not by the crowd's opinion that we are to follow, but by the still voice of the Holy Spirit.
2. To say that we are not to judge anyone is not of God, for unless we test those who claim to be of God, how can we tell whether they truly are, or whether they are wolves in sheep's clothing. Becareful, also, lest if you accept such, that you will not find yourself counted or guilty of their evil. God gives a clear outline on who to associate with and who to avoid. But more of that another time.
3. Not everyone will agree with us all the time, but that is no reason to reject them, or to cut ourselves off from them, and here I am not speaking of those in the world, but those who are brethren in the Lord. Together we are to encourage each other, and to pick up such that fall, lest at any time we ourselves fall, and need to be picked up also.
Let us not be deceived by what the world calls love and claim that it is the Pure LOVE that the Lord bestows upon His Children. Only such that have a pure hearet towards the things of God can love with the LOVE of the Lord.
Please accept this as it is given in the LOVE of the Lord Jesus our Saviour and Master, the Shepherd of our souls.
Seek the Lord's views on this and then take them to heart, and see the blessings of the Lord on your life, to His glory.
