Subject: '98 GMC Jimmy - computer or transmission?

After a visit to mechanic to check a possible transmission problem (slow to start from a stop, seemed liked I was pulling a tractor trailer behind me) he put it on the computer and said there was a selenoid code showing up. I then brought it to a transmission place but their computer showed NO electrical codes at all. The car has been getting a little worse over the past week, in starting from a stop or feeling sluggish when merging into traffic on the highway.

BUT,,,,a few new symptoms have just started to develop that have me wondering if it's something completely different..

Yesterday, when starting to drive, all the gauges went flat; no speed, no fuel, nothing but the car never stalled. Battery is fine. Then later, they were fine. Wipers go for a while, then stop in mid-swipe, then start up again in 20 secs. Very erratic, not consistent at all.

Transmission company is "happy" to pull the transmission and rebuild it but I'm wondering if this is some type of computer or electrical problem and not transmission related at all.

Right now, car is still under C.A.R.S. warranty, but only for another 400 miles or so.

Any ideas or suggestions??

Thanks
rick
