Subject: sluggish engine

i have an 84 eldorado sat for about a year and a half.befor it sat i could hit the gas and spin the tires..now its very sluggish wont pick up speed i had it on the highway twice went about 140 miles now its hard to hit 40 mph getting worse and ive seen some black smoke coming from the exhaust.and it drinks gas can anyone help????????
