Subject: 1998 ford explorer sport wont start

this morning it was below 20 degrees outside, when i parked my 1998 expl sport it was fine, i tried to start it and it wouldn't start, when i put the key in the ignitions it turns over but its not catching. there is no clicking it just sounds strong as if , it's about to start, but it doesn't. I tried getting a boost but thats not working , the lights and everything comes on so i think the battery is fine. there appears to be alittle acid fluid one of the battery terminals could that be a problem, can someone help me please, before i end up spending money that can be saved.
