Subject: Brake rotor removal

I am having trouble removing the brake rotors on a 4 cyl 1999 Mitsubishi galant. I have the calipers off and it appears that I have to remove a cotter-pinned nut that holds back the rotor. Is this true? Is the nut reverse threaded? Any special tools for removing this nut (having trouble budging it)?
