Subject: 1989 volvo after market install

Before my husband died he installed a after market stero in one of our Volvo's.I just paid for an install of a Clarion in our other Volvo but they claimed they could not locate plug to hook directly to oem plug,so they spiced my wires.Now ther is no sound through speakers.I recall my husband had to by-pass something on our other Volvo to get the sound through the speakers.The dealer says I am crazy.Can someone help me to do what my husband did so I can hook the speakers my self and show that guy he is in the wrong business?
