I served with the 557th from May of 1969 to Dec 1970. I was in the motor pool technically 63B20 and I don't believe I ever worked on a wheeled vehicle. Never was in Phouc Vinh[ home base] much. I ran a Contact Truck service truck. Spent time at npd we built about 40 klics north of Phuoc Vinh, Nuey Ba Dinh, Lai Khe, and Song Be. I do remember on one of my trips to home base that the 1sgt got fragged on a regular basis. I also recall a short fellow who played guitar named Leon Fain and a fellow named Harold Way. All the other fine people are kind of a blur. Just thankful I got out of there OK and God Bless America! >I served in the 557 LE CO in 1970. I was a sp/5. I
