I was a heavy equipment operator with the 84th, from 1965-67. I was part of the detachment that built that airfield in An Khe for the 1/7th. Does anyone recall when the first C-130 that sunk into the asphalt when it landed there? We had to tow it out with a dozer! What a debacle!
