Your experience is probably not all that unusual. League operators usually also have a business that is fed by their leagues, so naturally they're protective of that. But from a player's perspective it's asinine to be so defensive. We want to play darts, and the more options and variations on the game available to us, the better. We don't stop patronizing the businesses we like, but we do like to have a variety to pick from. We've recently added a new league in the area, and as I expected, it's drawn new players into darts without taking away from the previous league - we all benefit!
I'm surprised at your view of NDA as being in bed with Valley, though. We don't like their boards and we're grateful to our league operators for offerring only Arachnid products. The only time we have to put up with Valley products is when we're in a major tournament like Team Dart. Overall, I think we're being well served by our league and Arachnid.
