In steel tip, it's your choice. You can use the screw on steel tips, or you can use a regular steel point dart of any weight. Personally, I use the add ons on my soft tip darts so I don't have to get used to a different dart. Used them at havasu and the Vegas Open. At the Vegas Open I even backed up from the line so it would be more like the eight foot distance of soft tip.
