Well Erin being its soft-tip (which I also shoot), Heres my 2 cents. I shoot a 3.5 so if I were shooting another 3.5 I would go for the close,odds are I won't miss. But in the lower avg.1.5 to 2.5 lets say if one has the 15's open (your friend) and the other (you) have the 19's open when you shoot, I would first try one at 19 for score and then to close (or even hit one of his), the reason, if you hit one 19 that forces him to hit 2 15"s (use 2 darts) to now go ahead and will leave him omly one dart to close your number,OK he hits one of yours,now if all this happens here's whats left,he's 11 points ahead but you still have 19s and have hit 1 or 2 of his 15s and he hit 1 19, now you have 3 darts and should be able to hit one 19 for score ( and go ahead ) and close. even if you don't close you will again be up in points and he will have the problem as before, you should win ( unless one of you gets lucky and hits a trip ) if its you, you win. I think you get the idea of what i'm trying to say, try it and see what happens.
